Commercial building fire

At 13:39 cos 18,43,49,67, Rit 14 and medic ridley 7 were dispatched to 223 Ridley ave.  for a building fire. 18-9 responded within minutes followed by 18-3. Upon arrival found heavy smoke venting from 3rd floor. Engine 18-3 stretched a 2 1/2 inch line into the front door. Upon investigation found heavy fire between the floors. the rest of the crews did an extensive overhaul to find the rest of the fire. Sta 12,62 were dispatched for manpower due to extreme heat. there were no injuries reported and all occupants were out of building upon arrival.

COMMERCIAL BUILDING FIRE IN 43's LOCAL

At 0840 this morning the Company  was dispatched to 914 South avenue to assist Co. 43 (Holmes), on a working building fire. Upon arrival they had heavy smoke showing from a 2nd story apartment. Engine 70 (Leedom) layed a 5" supply line from the hydrant in front of the Ymca on South ave. Engine 18-3 picked up the hydrant and established the water supply. The Company was on scene for about an hour.


 
ACCIDENT @KEDRON AND MACDADE

At 22:55 hrs Companies 18, 43, 49-7, and Medic 102 were dispatched to Kedron and Macdade for the accident with entrapment. Tac 18 responded with 3 and found 2 vehicles side by side up on the curb with minor Confinement. Rescue 43 (Holmes) arrived and removed the rear window to safely remove the patient out of the vehicle. The patient was transported to Taylor by  49-7 (milmont). The crew from 18 put oil dry down and cleaned up debris. The Company was on scene for about 25 min before returning.


 
   
   
MULTIPLE VEHICLE ACCIDENT

At 15:00  Companiess 18, 43, and medic 102 were dispatched to 115 Kedron ave for an accident with entrapment. Tac 18 responded with a crew of 4 and found 6 vehicles involved with no subjects trapped. Rescue 43 was recalled due to negative Entrapment, meanwhile the crew from Tac 18 assisted medic 102(Taylor) with triage and patient care. A total of 10 patients were taken to area hospitals. 5 patientswere taken to Taylor and 5 others were taken to Crozer. Assisting medic 102 were:  67-7 (Woodlyn),  14-7 (Swarthmore), 12-7 (Eddystone),  and 02-7 (Norwood). After all patients were transported, the Company stood by on scene till all vehicels were removed, then cleaned up debris put oil dry down. The Company returned after an hour on scene.

WORKING FIRE IN TOWN

At just after 5pm this evening, the building assignment was struck for 716 E 7th ave in town, bringing Companies 18(Folsom), 43(Holmes), 49( Milmont Park), 67(Woodlyn), 62-7, Ridley 7, and RIT 14(Swarthmore). Engine 18-3(9A) arrived to heavy smoke and fire from the rear of a split level twin and led off with an 1 3/4" handline while Squrt 67 layed in a 4" supply line and stretched a back-up line. 18-1 reversed out from 18-3 to 8th and Evergreen for an additional suppply line, while Ladder 43 took the rear to start opening up the roof. Additional crews checked the exposure building. After the quick knockdown, a PPV fan was set up and crew performed extensive overhaul. No extension was found. The fire was held in check to the room of origin, in part, to the resident closing the door to the fire room upon discovery of the fire. Excellent job to all crews, especially the first in Hose team.

On February 1st, 2010 Folsom Fire Company welcomed home U.S Army's Matt Cross. All  apparatus from station 18, met Matt at I-476 at the  MacDade blvd exit. Matt was escorted  to his home on 7th ave in Folsom with many of his neighbors and friends waiting to welcome him home. A special thank you to the Ridley Township Police Dept with OIC Sergeant John Hamill covering all the major intersections along MacDade Blvd,  Also a big thank you Matt for keeping us safe at home while you were serving our country...

Accident with Entrapment

At 9:20 this morning companies 18(Folsom), Rescue 43(Holmes), and Medic Ridley 7 were dispatched to MacDade and Swarthmore for the accident with entrapment. Pd advised they needed a door "popped". Tac 18-(9A) arrived and advised fireboard there was negative entrapment and recalled the rescue. Tac 18's crew handled hazardsincluding securing the battery, debris control, and fire protection. Tac 18 stood by until the vehicle was cleared and returned within the hour.

On Sunday 11-29-2009  Companies 18(Folsom) & Co 49 (Milmont) went to the fire training center in West Chester, to perform various live fire evolutions.  Training lasted  7 approximately hours. The Folsom Fire Co would like to send out a very special thank you to our friend and guest instructor from the Philadelphia Fire Department for his assistance throughout the day. It was a great time and both companies came away with some very interesting material of safe firefighting. Also a special thank you to Chief Terry Burke and his members for their assistance on that day.

 Engine 18-1 attended the annual muster hosted by Firemans Hall at the Philadelphia Fire Academy. For the 5th year straight, the Engine won 1st place for best appearing Engine, (Dept. owned) 1981-1994. Thanks to all who helped to get the truck ready.
