Duty Crew Runs Two

Tonight, the crew from Station18 was dispatched to assist Co 43(Holmes), on the buiding fire at the Presidential Square Apts on South Ave. 18-3 arrived to a light to medium smoke condition and investigated to find the fire out in the apartment. Crews ventilated and performed light overhaul and were available within the hour. Shortly after returning to station the Company was hit out again to Morton and Edgewood for the vehicle fire. 18-1 arrived to find a van fully involved. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and were available in short time. 


 
100th Anniversary Parade

Today the Folsom Fire Company celebrated their 100th year Anniversary by hosting the Annual Delaware County Fireman\\\'s Association parade. The festivities kicked off around 1pm with the parade route starting at the Ridley High School and ending at the station. Thanks to all those that attended and helped out to make this the greatest day possible. And thankfully the weather held out this time!  Also, thanks to Brian Feeney for taking photos of the day\'s events. Annual Banquet

Although the weather didn't quite cooperate with us today to hold our 100th anniversary parade, the members of the Folsom Fire Co. held their annual Banquet in the Hall tonight. A great time was had by all and congratulations to all those that received awards, especially rookie Gerry McLauglin, who took home the Fireman of the Year award.


 
Parade Postponed

The parade originally scheduled for Saturday has been postponed and rescheduled to September 27th due to the impending tropical storm to hit us that morning. We look forward to seeing everyone there!


 
TAC 18 Finally in!

The new TAC 18 has finally arrived from Ferrara's factory! The truck has made it just in time for our 100th anniversary parade for tomorrow, where we will get a chance to house it during the festivities.


 
   
   
Annual DCFA Parade at Folsom

This year the Folsom Fire Company will be holding their 100th year anniversary parade on September 6th at 1pm. This year Folsom will also be the host of the Annual Delaware County Fireman's Association Parade. Free hotdogs will be given out and beer/birch beer is free with the purchase of a mug. Come out and have a good time!


 
New Tac 18

The new TAC 18 is coming along nicely at Ferrara Fire Apparatus in Louisiana. The new TAC 18 will be a Ford F-550 4-door mini-pumper with a 300 gal. water tank and pump on a skid unit in the rear. We will be utilizing this vehicle for all accident calls and back-up to 18-1 on vehicle fires. We are hoping for delivery in early September!

The Board and Members of Station 18 would like to Congratulate junior firefighter Phil Hilerty for being this years recipient of the Michael Reagan Award. This Award is presented in Honor of Michael Reagan to a Ridley High Student who is pursuing a career in the field of Law Enforcement or Firefighting. Phil is the first student of Ridley High to receive this award. Phil is Hoping to be a Member of the F.B.I in his future. Congratulations and Good Luck in your future.

FOLSOM AND PROSPECT PARK (08) PRACTICED TRUCK CO. OPERATIONS

Future firefighters watch as Folsom(Sta18) and Prospect Park(Sta08) practiced truck operations on a vacant house on Sutton Ave. Both Companies were able to practice Roof Ventilation, using different hand tools and power saws to open the roof. Prospect Park(Sta 08) used SNOZZLE 8 to practice Piercing the roof with there Piercing nozzle. Both Companies were also able to go inside to practice different Punch Techniques. We would like to Thank the two Future firefighters for taking the time to stop by and taking a picture with us.

 
   
   
CVS FIRE

Station 18 along with Companies 43(Holmes),49(Milmont),67(Woodlynn),Rit 14(Swarthmore),70(Leedom)Air Bank and Medic Ridley 7 were dispatched to the 1900 block of E. MacDade (the CVS store)for a building fire. Chief Joe Carollo (18-9) was first on location to find heavy smoke coming from the back loading dock of the building, Crews quickly went into service with a 1 3/4 hand line to the storage area of the store where they encountered heavy smoke and fire conditions. The fire was quickly extinguished and reported under control at 21:29 hours Sta.12(Eddystone)Air Boat was dispatched to help with ventilation. The company was in service for 2 1/2 hours.

SEARCH AND RESCUE DRILL

Station 18 along with Milmont(sta.49) and Leedom(sta.70) air bank Crew members were able to practice Search-and-Rescue,Force Entry and Roof Ventilation in a vacant house on Sutton Ave. The house was smoked out with a smoke machine while crew members practice different scenarios set up by Deputy Chief Ben Salmieri and Assistant Chief Ray Gunnip. After all equipment had been properly restored a brief crew meeting was held.
